1. Membership types
AMCAF offers two distinct tiers of membership tailored to firms and individual practitioners:
• Ordinary Members (Ahli Biasa): Designated for professional accounting firms registered with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) where 100% of the equity, rights, and shareholding are Malay-owned.
o Audit Firms (Ahli Biasa-AF): 82 registered firms.
o Non-Audit Firms (Ahli Biasa-NF): 43 registered firms.
o Privileges: Every partner of an Ordinary Member firm holds full voting rights at General Meetings and is eligible for nomination to the Executive Management Committee.
• Associate Members (Ahli Bersekutu): Tailored for qualified individual Malay accountants registered with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), with 27 active members across Malaysia.
o Privileges: Full access to Association activities, industry technical networks, and professional development programmes (non-voting and non-office holding).
2. Membership Requirements
Prospective applicants must meet clear constitutional criteria to ensure professional integrity and alignment with the Association’s mission:
• Individual Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must be Malaysian citizens of Malay ethnicity and Islamic faith, at least 24 years of age, and free from any declaration of bankruptcy.
• Professional Registration: Both firms and individuals must hold active registration under the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA).
• Endorsement & Approval: Applications must be proposed and seconded by two existing AMCAF members before formal submission to the Management Committee for review and approval.
